About CATA
The Chinese-American Tea Association is a nonprofit organization promoting pure, fresh Chinese tea, in Western Markets.

Our mission:

  • Promote tea and its healthy lifestyle in the US;
  • Ensure quality of tea shipments to the US and Canada
  • Support free and fair trade in the tea industry;
  • Promulgate timely and accurate information about tea to Western buyers and consumers
We support and promote:
  • Fair Trade practices
  • Pesticide-free farming
  • Natural, environmentally-sound fertilization methods
  • Organic water purity standards
  • Cleanroom procedures
  • Consistent quality grading
While CATA does not have authority to enforce any standards in the US or in China, by agreeing to them, our members help influence these practices and put pressure on businesses not following them.

Is CATA a government organization?
No. All CATA funding comes directly from contributing tea farm co-ops, importers and exporters. We are not associated directly with the Chinese or American governent, but work within their guidelines to expand the sales of quality tea to thew US and Canada.

Can anyone join?
